ABOUT US

Statement on Education for Sustainable Development at STC

At Sha Tin College, we challenge our students to make meaningful contributions to the world. Our priorities, guided by our core values of “Be curious, Be inclusive, Be generous, Be responsible”, are to sustain an inclusive culture where every voice contributes to school life, where students can lead their own learning and engage with challenging ideas; amplify an inclusive and unifying Sha Tin College culture; and enable every student to lead their own learning, in school and beyond.

TAKING ACTION

Empowering Responsible Global Citizens

Our school has undertaken a multifaceted approach to empowering our students as responsible global citizens and contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes collaborating with the Transformative Action for Sustainable Schools (TASS) initiative to integrate SDG-related topics and projects into our curriculum, organizing regular recycling competitions to foster environmental responsibility, and providing volunteering clubs that allow students to engage with different charities and organizations, supporting local and global communities. Additionally, we implement a "No Resources Week" to raise awareness about resource scarcity and sustainable consumption patterns, and organize an "Odd Socks Day" to promote student wellbeing and destigmatize discussions around mental health. Through these diverse initiatives, we are committed to creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

GGC Council Vision and Mission/Goals

Our school's GGC (STC) chapter has a clear vision and mission to make a meaningful impact within our school community and contribute to the larger global goals.

Vision: To establish an ecosystem in our school that can have a long-lasting, positive impact, and encourage the founding of other like-minded organizations.

Mission/Goals:

  • Focus on making an impact within our school society, with one or two main global goals to work towards.

  • Develop innovative solutions to encourage students to brainstorm and design creative solutions to support the chosen goals.

  • Work and communicate with charities, guest speakers, and others to spread awareness and grow a network.

  • Support the larger community and aid wherever possible.

  • Establish our chapter's goals, values, and ideologies.
